Pilates Books

“Books are the quietest and most constant of friends; they are the most accessible and wisest of counselors, and the most patient of teachers.” Charles Elliot

There are now hundreds of books related to Pilates - classical Pilates, contemporary Pilates and Pilates based workouts to name just a few categories. Start with a couple of these and you are on the way to a basic library of the work as Joe originally designed it.

In his own words....Joe Pilates wrote two books during the course of his long-life. “Return to Life Through Contrology” in 1934 and “Your Health” in 1945. “Return to Life” includes the original 34 mat exercises, with pictures of Joe performing the work. It can’t get any more authentic than that!

Alycea Ungaro - Like her DVD’s Alycea’s books are considered must haves in any basic, classical Pilates library.

Brooke Siler - Brooke’s books, are some of the first and best from this Romana-trained 2nd Generation teacher, and now Pilates legend.
