Born in Springfield, Massachusetts, Erica washed ashore at the ripe old age of two and, with the exception of her college years, has called Cape Cod home ever since. As a child Erica fell in love with the art of dance, and she began taking dance lessons at the age of seven. She studied ballet, jazz, tap and modern dance. By her late teens she was performing with the Chatham-based Viva Dance Company under the direction of Naomi Turner and Barbara Ehle. Erica went on to attend Emerson College in Boston where she began as a dance major. After graduation, Erica moved back to the Cape and began working at a local fitness club.
Erica has always believed in the positive power of movement and exercise on both the body and mind. In 2012, Erica was introduced to Pilates and was immediately impressed with the system and its ability to tone and exercise muscles, provide strength, balance and postural improvements to the neck and spine, and its added benefit of centering and focusing the mind.
Erica firmly believed in the work, and wanted to share it, so she started the journey of becoming a certified instructor. In 2016, after two years of study and practice, and completing more than 600 hours of instruction, Erica earned her comprehensive certification through Peak Pilates. She began her level one studies with Carrie Pfenning at the Pilates Room in Marstons Mills, and finished levels two and three with Pamela Garcia at Pure Pilates in Norwell. Erica has also had the privilege of training and continuing to learn from Lyn Wilkinson, owner of The Pilates School, and Lyn’s frequent guest teacher, Jon Owen, from Pilates Challenge in New York City.
She looks forward to sharing her love of Pilates with you.
